Empusa (not to be mistaken with the Belgian act Empusae) are a Dutch underground dark electro band. Originally formed as a solo project by Brandy Oliver in 2006, she later met Richie Gray through the Myspace music network and started collaborating on a number of music projects. Richie officially joined Empusa later that year.
The band have recorded two albums to date, "Domain" and "In Passing", with several other songs (featuring notorious American singer Miss FD on vocals) being released on various compilations, such as "Machines Against Hunger" by Sigsaly Transmissions and "Sanity Is Slavery" by MachineKunt Records.
Empusa's sound can best be described as a hybrid, of Goth, Electro and EBM. Empusa music can be bought via the Empusa Facebook page and Myspace.
Miss FD on the other hand is a songwriter, producer, and performer based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In 2010 Miss FD released her full-length album "Monsters in the Industry" (get it here on iTunes or Amazon) through Quantum Release Records. From this album, the track "Enter the Void" led to the launch of Miss FD's first official music video.
2011 brought the debut of Miss FD's second album "Love Never Dies". Like its predecessor, the album received quite a wave of positive reviews (get the album on Amazon.com MP3, Amazon.de MP3, iTunes

Over the last 15 years, hardly any other musical project has been as much polarized as the Berlin producer and sound designer Rico Piller (P24). Well, maybe And One has. He has been loved and hated. Here's Rico's take on it: "Thanks to the work I have done during recent years, I got stronger and don't need to justify myself any longer. People may accept and enjoy my work or they may not."
The break of almost two years has been good for P24 in oder to concentrate and to completely rethink all of his values and to try to get to the bottom of things. "I try to break new ground, I want to find new musical solutions for existing themes, feelings and moods. I deliberately - and hopefully skillfully - avoid the headwind of cliches," says Rico. Out now is the online single "Lichtjahre entfernt".

Fresh news from the Midnight Syndicate headquarters. The band will release "Carnival Arcane" on August 2nd. It will be the 14th album for this Gothic horror soundtrack project.
"The theme of the new disc surrounds the Lancaster-Rigby Carnival, a shadowy, turn-of-the-century traveling circus with more than a few skeletons in its closet," says Edward Douglas. "The Victorian and Edwardian eras are a big source of inspiration for us. They also marked the beginning of the heyday for traveling carnivals, so that's the time period we chose to set the disc in. We spent a lot of time researching early-20th century circuses and carnivals to ensure that the sounds and music work together to really immerse you in this world and the time period. There's also a big tip of the top hat to Mr. Bradbury whose work inspired many of the more horrific elements that appear in the latter half of the disc."
"Carnival Arcane" also features the vocal talents of Jason Carter (Lord Of The Rings, Battle For Middle Earth, Babylon 5, The Dead Matter) and fellow The Dead Matter cast members Brian Van Camp, and Dennis Carter, Jr.
The CD will be available through the Midnight Syndicate website, Amazon, iTunes, as well as at Halloween retailers nationwide. It will also be available at select Hot Topic stores starting August 8th. Preview tracks will be made available on the band's Facebook page ( www.Facebook.com/MidnightSyndicate ) and website ( www.MidnightSyndicate.com ) shortly.
Midnight Syndicate has been creating instrumental Halloween music and gothic horror fantasy soundtrack CDs for the past 14 years. The group's music has become a staple of the Halloween season worldwide as well as a favorite in the haunted house, amusement park, role-playing game, and gothic music industries.

At an impressively young age, John Fryer already had his name on the sleeves of some of the most influential records of the past 30 years by artists like Depeche Mode, Cocteau Twins, Fad Gadget, and solo projects by Wire members Graham Lewis and Bruce Gilbert. His indelible signature can be heard on nearly every 4AD Records and Mute Records release. He was one of only two members of This Mortal Coil, produced Nine Inch Nails' breakout hit, "Pretty Hate Machine", produced the biggest albums from Jesus Jones, Love & Rockets, Cradle of Filth, and HIM's "Razorblade Romance". In short, this is not just a musician from around the corner.
While working on these albums now considered genre - and era - defining, John started composing the songs that would one day comprise DarkDriveClinic's debut release, "Noise in my Head". For years he searched for the right vocalist and having worked with Elizabeth Fraser, Sarah McLachlan, Kristin Hersh, Jarboe, Diamanda Galas, and Allison Moyet, his standards were understandably high.
Then, in 2010, through a series of incredible coincidences, John met Rebecca Coseboom from the popular San Francisco band Stripmall Architecture (and previously Nettwerk records' now-defunct Halou). Rebecca, who had spent years and hours listening to much of John's catalogue had built herself a good name as a singer. Here are some press quotes: 'a female front woman with an incredible voice' (CMJ) and 'her voice flutters around your head like a silky scarf and the whole is like a sonic manifestation of a romantic swoon...' (The Stranger).
In late 2010, the two holed up in the studio to record final vocals to the tracks that John had been refining for years and what resulted is DarkDriveClinic's "Noise in my Head" to be released in October of 2011.

Former Joy Division/New Order bassist Peter Hook, drummer Stephen Morris and Bernard Sumner have granted The Guardian an interview to talk about "Total", the first compilation of properly remastered New Order and Joy Division material. (You can order the release at Amazon USA, Amazon UK, Amazon DE or on iTunes.) It wasn't exactly a happy reunion.
The relation between Hook and the other band members has been troubled since Hook started up a new band, the Light, playing whole Joy Division albums in their live shows and releasing an EP of Joy Division covers. On top Hook bought the rights to the name and brand of the Haçienda, the old Factory records nightclub without the rest of the band knowing.
Here are the lines that stress that again:

Legendary Canadian pioneering new wave/synthpop band Rational Youth will be releasing a series of new remix EPs on their original own 'YUL' label. Rational Youth existed from 1981-1986, reunited for a synth-pop festival in Sweden in 1997 and were officially revived by founding member Tracy Howe in 1998.
The first MCD is "Dancing on the Berlin Wall" which will be released on August 1st. The title comes from their 1982 album "Cold war night life" of which "Dancing..." was one of the stand-out tracks (see a video of the German edit here or after the jump).
This EP features brand new recordings of the classic song (never before issued as a single), sung in English and in German, in 'Pure' and 'Euro Dance' versions - whatever that means. Also included is an 80's style New Wave extended dance mix. Added to that you'll get the original version to round out the 6 track package.
The EP was produced by Tracy Howe and Bill Vorn, the original 1981 duo and mixed & mastered by Montreal producer, Jean Pierre Isaac.
