The two sisters, Anita and Tove Bøygard, are the duo boygArd. They grew up in a small mountain valley, called Aal in Hallingdal, in Norway, and they have been playing instruments, singing and writing songs, since they were children.

In 1999, they played at Norwegian Wood, a big music festival in Norway. After this performance, they started working with the American born producer Leif Johansen. This brought them to USA, where they have played concerts in Nashville and New York.They have also recorded some songs with the American producer Jay Ferguson, in his studio in Santa Barbara, California.

The music can be described as acoustic folk-rock. It is naked and honest, with the vocals as the main instrument, with a rough acoustic guitar. They use a lot of harmony vocals.boygArd, has had a lot of gigs in Oslo. They always manage to create a good atmosphere at their concerts, with their strong lyrics, beautiful harmonies, and rhythmic playing.The music lends elements from Irish and American folk music, and has a distinctive characteristic sound that mesmerizes the audience. The lyrics have a quality and depth that makes people really listen. BoygArd has also developed their own way to sing harmonies. After years with different concepts and productions, the duo has landed where they do belong, in an open and honest, acoustic landscape.
